You are about to embark on what could be the most frustrating, time consuming and
overwhelming project of your life -
How do I start? Some choices have a significant impact on others. So start with the basics and work from there.
Ask yourselves:
.
You may not have an exact date but a rough date can give you a starting point and timescale for your planning. The various elements of a wedding can take a long time to arrange, so the earlier you know your deadline date the better.
How much input will they be allowed with the wedding planning?
Colour co-
Are they available? Would you consider a wedding ceremony without them?
Some countries require residency for a specific period prior to the ceremony.
Can you be away for this length of time and can you afford the extra expense.
You may find it easy to make your initial choices. However, the real planning work comes starts when you try to put all those choices together.
Wedding planning might more appropriately be called wedding coordinating as this
is the most frustrating and complicated part of the wedding planning process -
Which church, when? Where to have the reception,? Will it be available on the right day at the right time? When can the cake be ready? Have you allowed enough time for wedding gown fittings? What car? Will it be available? Who will the photographer be? Is the photographer available on the day and for the times you require? What flowers do you want? Is this the season for those flowers? Who will your florist be? Can they provide all the arrangements at the right time? Too early and they will not be fresh. Are you sending shoes, bags or clothes for dying? Will they be ready? Then of course there is the guest list and the all important seating chart. Who is coming, who has replied, who sits with whom?
If you are handling the wedding planning yourself, give yourselves a pat on the back, take a deep breath and prepare to have it take over your life.
If you are a couple that decide to hand over this aspect of their wedding to an official wedding planner, you can tell your planner what you want and let them make it happen. There will be a significant financial cost, but at least not every waking moment of your time will be taken up arranging the most important day of your life!
