John was born in Bristol, England and has lived there all his life. He took a year out after College, in 2006 for an around the world back packing trip and met his bride Elizabeth in a hostel in Paris.

“My great loves are Elizabeth, my dog Rover, football, football and football. Notice how I put my bride first. I learn my lessons fast!”

Elizabeth was born in London, England and moved to Bristol when she was 12 when her father became a lecturer at a College in Bristol.

“I met John in Paris when I was taking an extended holiday before starting my current job in a store in Bristol. John showed me a few of the Parisian not to be missed places. My trip was shorter than his and I returned home 2 months after leaving home and John returned to Bristol 3 months later. In that time we sent texts and telephoned and sent the occasional email. John is terrible at letter writing.

When John returned to Bristol we arranged to meet and as our relationship grew stronger so did the knowledge that we were meant to be together. Fortunately, I like football too!”

John and Elizabeth got engaged in December 2007 and announced their engagement at their New Years Eve 2007 party. On Valentine’s day 2008 they held their engagement party at the Seymour Hotel in Bristol. See photos.

The engagement party was a great success. They and their 130 invited guests had a wonderful time. 25 of the guests stayed over and kept the party going through the following day.

Through their shared love of football, they have made many new football buddies and have a wide circle of friends. They love to sit and watch football together at the weekends, but Elizabeth always has a firm hand on the remote.
